Re: We lost a friend ... RIP Nick Smith
Both shocked and sorry to hear this news - Nick was a lovely guy and a monster player, he also did a lot of the demos and promotions at trade shows for Enfield. One memorable day, we met at Status HQ in Colchester and sort of ambushed Rob and Dawn - I did get to play one of MK's early King Bass MkII's, though. Nick will be sorely missed. RIP mate.Responded in We lost a friend ... RIP Nick Smith

Re: We lost a friend ... RIP Nick Smith
This is very sad news indeed.Nick was a lovely chap always in good spirits. I was lucky enough to have him here at mine for an afternoon. Lots of fun AND some of my basses finally got played properly!
I’ll send some pictures I have of him to Andre to put up here!
You will be missed Nick

Re: We lost a friend ... RIP Nick Smith
We recently lost a friend in Nick Smith.I recall several meetups with Nick talking about his plentiful collection of basses of which some Status basses.
@moo will remember when we met at his place a couple of times (can't seem to find the pictures)
Nick will be missed, RIP my friend.
I believe this picture was taken by Trev at the London Bass Show 2012

Re: Rob semi-retirement
There's some changes on the home page at status-graphite.com with the following text:"I'll be contacting everyone who has expressed an interest very soon.
We just need to finalise the web pages with detailed information."
Does anybody know anything about this, are they resuming manufacturing ??? :-)
Cheers Al.

Re: The NEW Happy Birthday Thread
I guess we can congratulate him again on another birthday soon? That's cool, I want to join in. An acquaintance of mine likes to be congratulated on the forum too, and this time it's her birthday in a week. Was looking for a thread but came across this one. I want to surprise her and order a gift from jetgiftbaskets.com with a signature from the forum. I think she will like it and think the gift is anonymous. Thankfully there is an option to send it and leave a mystery behind. I think she will like it. That's what I wanted to find out from local users how relevant and cool it would be to do soResponded in The NEW Happy Birthday Thread

Re: Status B-2
Hi everyone, Checking out a Status B-2, and was wondering what year the bass was made? The serial number is
CE 05123582. Any info on the year, and any feedback as it pertains to the year of build, would be much appreciated.

Re: Rob semi-retirement
Is there any indication about ongoing support and repairs since Rob has retired? My bass could do with a re-fret but apparently they're not doing that kind of work either.

Re: Rob semi-retirement
It's quite simple... Rob is a perfectionist and every single bass he makes goes through his fingers at the end of production. So if he wants to 'slow down' or stop working then everything stops!Just to put things into perspective, it's been more than 40 years! I have a Status bass that's 41 years old!

Re: Rob semi-retirement
I did not really understand what kind of retirement is.I mean, it sounds they just sell strings and few more things. No more basses produced!
Is it correct?
It does sound like a full retirement.
What I don't understand is why they didn't continue with the employees they have worked with them all these years.
Or some of them buying the company.
It's quite wierd stopping a 30year succesfull production all of the sudden! IMHO!

Re: Replacement Neck for OLP 5
Hi All, Hope everyone's safe and well.
I have a question about getting a Status replacement neck for my OLP 5 string bass. I've attached some photos here so please do have a look at those. I don't unfortunately have dimensions of the neck pocket or anything like that, but just curious - has anyone replaced the neck on an OLP 5 string bass with a Status neck? I'm looking at a lined fretless neck.
If anyone of y'all have ay advice/tips on this, please do feel free to share. Thanks!
