Re: The usual question....
I had one, serial # 69... It was finished in 1989 on October the 20th, I remember because it's my dad's birthday.

All the best,

Don.

Liar, you only want to see the pictures and have no intention of help Grin

How very dare you!!

Actually, I can easily date a Status Series II or 2000 by looking at it! The s/n are a bit confusing especially with the 5 strings!

Re: The usual question....
I know it's been asked a hundred times before but can anyone please help me date my bass?

I've looked on the databass for similar but cannot get close with the right combination.
It's a Series II, five string, headless, serial no: 46. I'm guessing it's 80's but am unsure the order in which the different models were released and how a 5-string fits into that order....

Any pointers much appreciated.
Thanks
Neil

For a bit of history I purchased the bass in Worcester, England in the early 90's -it was supposedly part of a mass sell off by Shadows bassist Mark Griffiths but I've never been able to find any pics of him playing it.... (so Mark, if you're out there and can confirm, or better still send me a pic!)

Re: Series 4000
Hi Mark Bass, take a look at the "Catalogues and more" pages, you will find some reviews of the series 4000, which seems to have been made in '89.
Have fun with your no-wood bass!

Re: Series 4000
I've just bought a series 4000 4 string, serial number 264. Any idea when this was made? It's in as new condition. Thanks Colin at soundmeout.com!

Ciao & welcome!

Thanks Stefano!

1991 sounds like it could be right.

He is like a one man show in the sense that he overseas all business operations from development, marketing, sales, assembly....every possible aspect right down to the finishing touches!

Considering how much he has on his plate, its hard to believe he has time to take a piss. Bless him Clap

He is really a fantastic guy, very helpful, but he has to prioritise, otherwise nothing would get done. My past visits to the shop have made me see how crazy busy it is for Rob and Dawn which gives me even that much more respect for them.

Yes absolutly.

I understand that he does not have very much time left and it must be exhausting building the best basses in the world!

It must have been nice to visit the shop. Someday i'm going to visit it myself and order a new 5string!

Thanks for the welcome.

That was my first thought but it seems he is not willing to respond to that sort of questions since he wrote his on the hompage:

"PLEASE NOTE
Sorry, but we can not comment on older basses
or give any idea of their value.

Because of time restraints, it is also not possible to supply information
about the age or production details of instrument."

So i am hoping that someone here has an answer for my question Smile

Re: Serial number help
Hi welcome to the forum, it looks like a series 4000 from abort 1989 , at that time each series woud have it own set of serial numbers, so this would be the 194th 4000 made,

Hi Jim, we are working on it; it's a big job and will take time considering there is not that much material to work on, but we are working on it Wink
