Moos right,i used to have a Mk sig standard and they really are the most fantastic basses, with the lowest action and superb sound.

The only downside for me was the bulky body when standing playing for a few hours but i still wish i'd never sold it!!!

The Alembics are truly stunning basses and this one is also a real beauty!
To me it doesn't look like a regular Alembic MK bass. There has been some modifications on the electronics. What modifications have been made?

You're right Mattheus

I'm no expert and so I'll just tell you what Stefano told me when he sold it to me!

The modifications were done to bring the electronics in line with a Series II by an Alembic specialist in ???? Some European country but I don't quite remember. Anyway, they act the same as the Series II now.

If you really want to know more then drop Stefano a PM. He's a great guy and I'm sure he will fill you in :)

Hmmm...I know this bass...;), she has found the best possible home!!!

For anyone interested, as Mattheus rightly says, the electronics were modified for the first owner of this MK Deluxe. The job was done by Edwin at the Bass Connection in Holland, the Alembic distributor for the Benelux countries.

The original was: volume, pan, filter, filter; Q switch and Q switch. The mods were the following:

1. added a master volume on the expected most front place
2. took out the pan and changed by a volume; So we got bridge and neck PU volumes.
3. Added a switch for circuit break with a red LED (red led replaced later by a switch for the red SIMS front & side led's) that indicated if the bass was on circuit break or not. It came frm the time I mostly let the bass with the jack in. Those were done just up from the place were the jack would be.
4. the jack socket was replaced by a PU selector switch (not orginal in first place, but I ordered and fitted an original one later)
5. The jack socket was brought to the side.

The mods were done in order to bring them nearer to the Series II electronics, the main difference is still the fact that the Series II basses sport single coil pickups plus a hum cancelling PU as well as the continously variable Q filter (instead of the simple 2-way switches here)...

Ciao!
Stefano

To be honest (As a former Alembic owner) The electronics upgrade brings the bass more up to a Series 1. De Alembic Series 2 has a variable Q switch, which gives great tonal possibilities.
But to be honest; the normal switches work better and faster (onstage), but that's a personal taste off course....

Had to trawl for an alembic thread! Never been arty in an artistic way but had some time on my hands at work, as you do! I was told I had to 'teach mosaics' tiling so here's my first peice! As Rolf would say "can you see what it is yet"?

It's A3 size. It's about as close to owning an Alembic as I'm going to get! It took me about a week to do but it was good fun and a good learning curve, the next one will be twice as good. I may well do a Status one! Mosaic art is selling for stupid prices, we are getting loads of commissioned work at the moment and even have a 'wall' at MK art gallery. My current peice is a silhouette of Joe Strummer. I was considering sending it out to Alembic for the crack, see if they would post me a bass back :D

OK, here's what we do.

We set up several websites. One of which is YOUR art site. The other sites are bogus 'art review' sites and forums ALL 'bigging up' your artwork and talking about the prices (which will be high). This means that when someone searches for you on Google they will see all these results for you and think you're trés cool (obviously we know the truth). We have several pieces on your site (actual and photoshoped) and then you advertise a limited edition Alembic logo of which you want to send them No. 1.

They will either sue you for copyright infringement OR send you a bass out of respect.

Wanna go for it??

;)

Can I have the other Q switch we're going to get at the end? :|
