I've tried it too...... it's Pony! Never tried the Status but then again not really my cup of tea.... I mean it5s a big bass..... anyway.... I also own a Warwick Thumb 5 neck through..... which has to be said is a fantastic bass guitar.... I know that'll get some backs up but its every bit as good a bass as any Status I've owned (albeit a different beast). Its my main instrument with my kingbass 4 as backup for my main project.

Only downside to it is the Weight..... its heavy compared with the kingbass.... so any one got a kingbass 5 string they would consider swapping (highly unlikely I know.... but you gotta ask..) let me know and i'll fill you in...... used to belong to Dave Bronze.

I also own a Warwick and it is a lovely bass. Completely different from the Status and fretless so comparison would be futile. I have owned 2 thumb basses and both were lovely so I will not be knocking them.

The only Status and Warwick that can be compared like for like are the Buzzards and in my very humble opinion the Warwick version just does not cut it in that comparison.

Steve,
many thanks for the info. But these basses are partly not for real. The Status B1 Ed is reffering to is owned by a prominent person at the moment and is Johns main stage bass. And this will never leave the hands of this person.
I know this as I had inquired some day with Ed and had found out that this particular bass belongs to this special person, both known by Ed and me.
But as said before, I really appreciate your help with this.
Many thanks
Oliver

Actually..
Have you tried that woman who was selling one on ebay a while back? on the .co.uk try searching for Buzzard or B1 on past listings. She didnt sell it eventually, and advertised it on a personal website.

Might still be available

Yeah, I got the other B1 that Ed "advertised" he had that belonged to the person Oliver was referring to. And with the discontinuation of the model & the fact that it was owned & played by JAE I can't imagine letting it go for less than a fortune...if I could bear to part with it at all.

Maybe if we have a Statii gathering you could bring it with you so we mere mortals could have a go on it and realise what we are missing! :D

:o I probably wouldn't touch it for fear of dammage!

How's about 21/10/06 as a preliminary date for another meeting perhaps?

And it really is a shame that so many of Johns B´s are in the posession of the HRC and hanging just at the wall. They need to be played!!!

That date has potential as ther will be a few people here in London for the Level 42 concert the night before. B)

I play it in the house about once every 2 weeks or so...I play my B2 the rest of the time! I do take it out for 2 shows a year around the anniversary of JAE's birth & death. It's fun to let other Entwistle fans who are bass players play it, keeps his memory alive.

Yep - I'll be over for the show, as will André. Feathers is looking into getting a ticket too.
