Hi everyone,
I am new here, so... My name is Florijan, I am Croatian. I am into software making (Mac mostly), and have worked in that area for a few years, now am chasing a degree in computer sciences.
I've been into music making for a while now. I played the violin as a kid, some piano, tabla, and did lots of music on the computer (Logic, Reason).
I started playing the bass some two years ago. Started with an Ibanez GSR390, and after a few months realized that bass playing is something I want to continue doing. Started shopping for a good bass, heard a tune by Mark King on Status's website and fell in love. So, I got a Smarbass. It's a 4 string, fretted, double soapbar, passive bass. Walnut body. Black hardware, monorail bridge units, and (though uncommon with satin lacquer) it has a gentle tobacco sunburst to it. It is beautiful, in an understated sort way. I will post photos when I make some decent ones.
I have a number of tunes recorded, check them out if you will, though none of them are played on the Status. I have yet to record anything on it (doing some exams right now, no time at all).

p.s. - don't mind the bad recording quality. I am working on improving my production quality... And will let the forum know of stuff I record with my Status.

Hi Florijan
Welcome to the forum! :)
And forget production... those tunes sound great... they have a wonderful musicality. My favourite is 'Soft Autumn Light'... simply beautiful!
I look forward to hearing some more recorded with your new Status...
Cheers,
Darren.
P.S. Good luck with your exams.

14 years agoHi Florijan
Another smartbass owner. I was beginning to think I was the only one around here. I love mine. The smartbass is a seriously underestimated bass. I would certainly get another one day (after the S2 classic (my 2000 needs company) and streamline!). Mine is mahogany, single soap bar 3-band active. I hanker after a double soapbar 3-band active in walnut.
Anyway, welcome and I look forward to the pics. Nice recordings, by the way. I'm with Darren, I like Soft Autumn Light. Also Bass1 has a tiny hint of later Marillion - which, for me, is a good thing. I know a bit of a guilty secret, but, like the smartbass, often overlooked - especially the recent stuff.
Stick around.
Keith
Thanks all for the welcome... I will definitively post links to tunes I record with the Smartbass, and am working on some photos...
