When it comes to heavy duty speaker leads for a big PA or XLR leads, I tend to make my own.
However, I dont make my instrument cables - tried a few different types of varying price and I have to say I'm not impressed.

Firstly Stagg, Cheap & Cheerful... But the connectors broke, so never again.
Second I think, 'Right... Planet Waves. They're meant to be good' How wrong I was. I've had 2 of their leads break on me, despite the Lifetime Warrenty they carry. Both were replaced free of charge of course, but its still a pain not to be able to rely on gear from one day to the next.

Are they any other brands out there easily avaible in the UK which you lot find to be reliable in the long term, or should I get in a reel of Van Damme and a bag of TRS Neutriks :O

Try the cables from Beyerdynamic.... they are made by Neutrik and have one straight ande one right angle jack..... had mine for 6 years so far gigging every weekend and rehearsing in the week... not one problem with the 24 cables i have..... other than that i can reccomend Klotz too!!!!!

I have had cables from Ezal as well. Superb quality and very reasonable prices too. He'll make them to the required lengths as well.

Lately replaced all my cables with monster i was so impressed, i also bought a Zaolla which is great but the monster stuff takes it for me.

Thanks guys, thinking of going with the 'make your own' option with Van Damme and Neutrik with one of those silent ones + a standard.
Might even have a reel of VD around here somewhere...
