Hello all - Im a guitarist and was taken by the status bass design in the 80's. I was not aware of the 6 strings Rob was building until today when I discovered this great site! I thought it may be of interest to share my workaround with you :-) I designed and had professionally made a Guitar based on the Status bass. It features rock maple through neck, ebony board, alder body 'wings', hybrid steinberger trem (for anyone in the know on steinberger its an R-Trem top & Jam trem bottom so it can lock to fix bridge on the fly with the trem arm - pretty cool), Kent Armstrong pickups and a roland GK internally fitted. I designed it in 1989 and it was completed in March 1990 - its been my main guitar since that day. does anyone have experience with the status guitars, (playability & sound) both GMT and slipstream? Regards Phil

Hello Phil, actually it's good to hear about guitars on this forum! I have both a maple top guitar (now called Slipstream) dating back to 2004 and a GMT guitar (small, small) dating back to 1982. Congratulations on your project!

The controls are (from the top down) 5 way std pickup selector 3 way synth / mix / guitar selector rotary passive tone with push/push switch for coil tap rotary volume for synth rotary volume for guitar two momentary buttons assignable but I use them for patch change on synth. It was built by Steve Clark Guitar Luthier in Nottingham UK (Tel 0115 9313916) - he is an excellent Luthier but he is really in demand and has long lead times, especially on full builds (worth the wait though).

Hi Phil, well this needs a lengthy reply, so as soon as have a few minutes I will do it with pleasure! Meanwhile, trust me, they are both great instruments! I'll be back, André
