Hey buddys! New to the forum. Have had 2 statusbasses before but sold them to buy new stuff. But now I´ve got that "I want a status"-feeling again. I´ve had an energy bass and a stealth-2. Both great instruments. Now I´ve found a Status Eclipse Artist. Graphite neck & d-tuner. Are they any good? What would you guys pay for one of those in good condition? I´m looking for that classic status-sound and I want a bass that´s easy to play and use it for slap/chords/harmonics/soloplay etc. Suggestions?

Found a used S2-classic in a store about 20 miles from where I live. They ask abour £1170 for it. Is that too much? A new one is £1425. Shock

The value will very much depend on the spec and condition. More info and pics will help!

If it's a bolt-on and in excellent condition with no serious options like LED's, it's worth around £1000. If it's a mint through neck at £1170, then grab it with all speed Smile

Hey! Went and played the S2-bass and it´s a neck through with gold hardware, "single unit" bridge or whatever it´s called. A few dings but nothing major. 2 frets had "risen" down by the 16th-17th fret. So there were some dead notes there, otherwise it was a monster. Not sure what woods were at top/bottom. Attaching a picture of it. Got it down to £1000, if they fix the frets/neck and put on a new lighter set of strings. Gonna call them this afternoon to see if the deal is on. What do you think? A good buy?

You are an apprentice Highwayman! Clap (see my avatar). At £1,000 i'd bite their hand off, particularly if they agree to repair the lifting frets. Congratulations! That's a lovely looking Status, so if you buy it don't forget the pics. Grin

Bought it today! £1000 ($1700) for a S2 Classic neckthrough. (plus a set of EBS strings, 40-100) No idea of what year it´s made. Would guess mid-late 90s. Not sure about the woods either...anyone got an idea? Gotta change to thinner strings but the bass is a monster. So happy to finally have a Status again! Grin

That's a beautiful and very unique looking wood grain, some kind of figured maple perhaps? What's the body wood? Congrats, and enjoy!

It looks like what I've seen referred to as "feathered maple". A BEAUTY!

Lovely looking bass, braxen. Congrats! Are you sure it's an S2? Looks like an Empathy to me...

Very nice bass, congrats! If you let us know the serial number we may be able to tell you when it was made. It looks quite new to me, I would say from 2002/3...

Got a reply from Rob...it´s built in september -99. No other info was available. Sad Does anyone know what woods it´s made of?

I think a couple of us believe the top wood to be maple. Provide some pics of the back, and maybe we can tell you what it is (I'm betting mahogany or walnut).
