I'm so late in on this one - however - the man has to be Michael Manring.
A totally unsung hero is the British session jazz man Fred T Baker - absolutely wonderful, and if you ever get chance to check out Juce then do. Really fabulous stuff.

Victor Wooten all the way for me. There's nobody better. Well, not on Earth, anyway.
Tal Wilkenfeld has a lovely style, too. I loved the fact that she (a bass player) wowed the Crossroads festival a couple of years ago where everyone was out to see guitardists!
Oh, and I can listen to old Jaco Pastorius recordings all day. Stunning!
