Hi guys,

I had an East J-retro preamp fitted to my Jazz bass today.....the only word I can use is "stunning."
Superb highs,tight controlled lows....sweepable mid...makes the bass sound-dare I say-"Status like.":D
Awesome build quality and an amazing sound.
Cost me a shade under £200 fitted and it's worth every penny.

If you get a chance try one out!

Yeah sounds good that Slapmonster, the only thing that would prevent me from getting one in my jazz bass is that i like the sound the way it is, i don't really want it to sound like a status!

Ha Ha!Probably gonna buy a JD with the money I've saved from not having a Status retro built!
Thought about it but it was just a little out of my price range..I think I'll have all the "basses" covered when I get the JD!
S1,Jazz and JD!
Nice!:)

I have my Fender jazz to sound like a Fender Jazz
and my Status s2 to sound like a Status s2.
You wouldn't take the pre amp out of your Status to
make it sound like a jazz (Or would you?)
HOPE NOT!!!!!:o

Anybody tryed a Bartolini onboard preamp on a JB ?

I know Marcus Miller has one on since the early '80.

Guess the tongue wasn't far enough in the cheek regarding the "Status" sound on my jazz...:D
I suppose if you're really going to compare it to another jazz I'd say it sounds a little "Marcus Miller" like...for half the outlay.
It's still a jazz,but with 50% extra oomph.
That East preamp is the best set of tone controls I've ever heard.
You can still run in passive mode and get the old school jazz sound which is great for some stuff..but the East pre has taken the little old cheapo Squier up to another level!

You have to admit, it is so cute how our "head-fins" pop out when even the slightest hint of Status carving is in the air, :D:D:D
